Made from solid brass using the original mould, this simple paperweight was designed by Carl Auböck II in 1952. One of the best-known figures of Austrian modernism, Auböck was one of the very few Viennese art students to attend the early Bauhaus in Weimar. And he did his teachers proud: Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius kept one of these small ‘Egg’ paperweights on his desk.
Now into the fourth generation, Carl Auböck VI continues to produce these wonderful items for a new century.
