The Bincho is the perfect pairing of water bottle and purifying White Charcoal.
Bincho is a combination of a beautiful handmade glass water bottle and a Kishu Binchotan - everything you need to begin your new ritual of turning tap water into pleasant tasting mineral water.
Kishu Binchotan absorbs chlorine from tap water (by up to 75%), softening it and improving its taste, whilst also adding minerals, such as potassium and magnesium.
The bottle is the perfect form to hold and display the Kishu Binchotan and is made from mouth-blown glass for Sort Of Coal by Danish designers Fragile.

Materials, finishes & dimensions
White Charcoal is made from wood but differs from regular charcoal in just about every other way. White Charcoal is produced using the same methods and processes that have been used for centuries. In this ancient Japanese method, pieces of wood are baked in hand-built clay kilns, - low temperatures at first and then at extremely high temperatures with restricted oxygen. This allows carbon to be captured in the wood, a process called pyrolysis. Perfecting the difficult ritual of burning requires patience and dedication and the people who produce White Charcoal are artisans and often have a family history of being charcoal makers. Although many Asian countries produce Binchotan, Kishu Binchotan is superior due to the potent combination of the best quality Japanese Oak and the traditional unique craftsmanship.

Start by rinsing your Kishu Binchotan under running cold water. Sterilise and move any possible ash residues by boiling it for five minutes from cold water. Remove from heat, drain the water and let the coal dry and cool in the pan. Fill your glass bottle with cold tap water and carefully slide the binchotan inside, holding the bottle almost horizontally to avid breaking the coal. Refrigerate for at least two hours before serving your purified, enriched, and delicious water.
Refill the bottle with cold tap water whenever you like, and cool for at least two hours, preferably overnight, to efficiently purify and enrich your water.
The glass bottle is dishwater proof. When not in use you can dry and store the binchotan in a container or plastic bag. We recommend that you boil the binchotan for one minute once a week to keep fresh and fully active.
After 1-3 months of daily use, the coal will no longer be active. Once you've finished using it nature will gladly take it back. An excellent fertiliser, just crush it and mix with potting soil where it will add nourishment and regulate the PH balance so your plants can thrive and flourish.
