The Ayrton Desk
A modern statement for the conscious home, this thoughtfully detailed desk, allows the inherent character of two contrasting timbers to take centre stage.
The original Ayrton Desk carries a sense of history and British heritage, designed by our sister design studio Goldfinger, and prototyped using reclaimed timber donated by Imperial College London’s Department of Electrical Engineering.
The collection is proudly named in honour of Hertha Ayrton—the pioneering British engineer, suffragette, and the first woman to publish a scientific paper at the Institution of Electrical Engineering.

Look closely at most furniture and you find things it would rather you did not see. Veneer over chipboard. Foam that breaks down. A finish that hides more than it shows.
We started Another Country in 2010 to make natural furniture of enduring quality, drawing on British country, Shaker, Scandinavian and Japanese traditions, where good design has always meant quiet, useful and made to last.
