Award-winning British furniture brand Another Country, known for its timeless and sustainable designs, forms a strategic partnership with Goldfinger, taking a majority stake in the business. Goldfinger, one of the UK’s most innovative and purpose-driven design studios, recognised for its bespoke commissions, pioneering tree-cycling initiative and community-led Future Makers programme is redefining what it means to make furniture responsibly. Together this partnership elevates sustainable furniture making, combining their in-house expertise and capabilities while opening the doors for the next generation of furniture makers and designers.
This milestone marks an important chapter for both brands. As certified B Corps, they are partnering to create one of the UK’s most sustainably-driven furniture and design studios, a place where ethical furniture production, thoughtful design, and positive social impact meet.
Founded in Dorset in 2010 by design entrepreneur Paul de Zwart, Another Country has championed craft and sustainability, earning a reputation for honest, well-crafted contemporary wooden furniture and accessories. Reinterpreting classic archetypal forms and traditional British furniture typologies for the modern home, their collections champion the Natural Home, celebrating natural materials and a deep connection to nature.

Goldfinger, founded in 2013 by Marie Cudennec Carlisle, shares this same ethos. Born from a mission to create collaborative design for the greater good, Goldfinger blends craftsmanship with social purpose, and is widely recognised for its sustainable furniture-making practices and community-driven workshops.
“We’re incredibly proud to bring Goldfinger into the Another Country family. We’ve long admired their commitment to craftsmanship, community and sustainability — values that mirror our own. By joining forces, we’re combining two like-minded British businesses with a shared ethos, strengthening our ability to create design that is not only beautiful and enduring but also makes a genuine, positive impact.” said Paul de Zwart, Founder of Another Country.
The addition of Goldfinger brings new depth to Another Country’s offering. With expanded in-house capabilities and a growing network of skilled makers, clients will benefit from a full-service design studio that can deliver customisable furniture collections, bespoke commissions and responsible manufacturing with production continuing across workshops in the UK and Portugal.

Goldfinger, bespoke craftsmanship
“I’m delighted that Goldfinger has joined forces with Another Country, a fellow B Corp and acclaimed British furniture maker whose values of timeless craftsmanship and sustainability align so well with our own. After 12 years leading Goldfinger, I am very proud to pass the CEO baton to the immensely talented and experienced Paul de Zwart of Another Country—an industry pioneer and now our majority shareholder. I couldn’t imagine a better steward for Goldfinger’s future, and I look forward to continuing to support our mission from my new role on the board as Non-Executive Director.” said Marie Cudennec Carlisle, Co-Founder of Goldfinger

At the heart of this partnership lies a shared belief: that good design can and should do good. Goldfinger’s award-winning apprenticeship and mentoring programme will continue to thrive within this new chapter. Twice yearly, young people are invited into one of Goldfinger’s partner workshops in London to learn furniture making, guided by experienced makers and craftspeople. With the support of Another Country, this vital programme will grow, opening more pathways for young people to gain life-changing skills and confidence in sustainable design and craft.
This partnership unites two like-minded British design brands with a shared purpose: to set a new standard for British manufacturing and material expertise, sustainability, craft and social responsibility. Another Country will build on this vision, creating a unified design business that provides architects, designers, and homeowners with beautiful, sustainably-crafted products that stand the test of time.
Design for good, buy for good, made for good.
