This blanket is named for the North Essex village of Finchingfield. The playful pattern of interlocking stepped forms and bands is woven in chalk, oatmeal, plaster pink, straw, rust, baler twine blue and estate green. Within the repeated pattern, colours are applied more randomly so that the exact placement of colour varies from blanket to blanket – each one contains the full palette, and the design allows for many variations – all equally lovely but with a suggestion of uniqueness that nods to vernacular patchwork. Fine score-lines runs across the surface of the blanket creating a subtle ribbed texture.
