This solid oak outdoor dining table joins the Series Two family as an outdoor version of our Dining Table Two. It’s perfect for stylish al fresco dining and living!
Hardy solid oak (an ideal outdoor wood) replaces the ash and walnut, thereby ensuring this piece of outdoor furniture will remain in great condition for years to come. Both the brass and oak will age gracefully like a yacht’s deck.

Dining Room Furniture
What size dining table should I choose?
The best dining table size depends on the space available and the number of people you need to seat. As a general guide:
- For four people → A round or square table of at least 90cm (36″) in diameter or width.
- For six people → A rectangular table of at least 150cm (60″) long.
- For eight people → A rectangular table of 200cm (79″) or more.
- Always allow at least 90cm (36″) of clearance around the table for comfortable movement.
What are the most common dining table shapes?
- Rectangular – The most traditional shape, ideal for larger dining areas.
- Round – Great for small spaces and encouraging conversation.
- Square – Best for compact rooms or intimate dining.
- Oval – A softer alternative to rectangular tables, offering flexibility in seating.
Should I get a dining table with extensions?
If you frequently host guests but don’t need a large table daily, an extendable dining table is a great solution. It allows for flexibility while saving space when not in use. Look for well-constructed extension mechanisms to ensure longevity.
How do I choose the right dining table style for my decor?
- Farmhouse → Look for solid wood with a warm, natural grain or a distressed finish. See Series One or Hardy Collection or Modern Farmhouse Collection
- Japanese and Scandinavian → Combine wood with metal for an urban edge. See Series Two
- Edwardian Workshop → Choose trestle-style, rounded corners. See Series Three
- 20th Century Modernism → Search for traditional cleat end tops, for example Gerrit Rietveld’s classic Red Blue chair. See Series Four
- Arts & Crafts → Look for pill-shaped refectory style tables and considered detailing. See Series Five
How do I clean and maintain my wooden dining table?
- Wipe spills immediately with a damp cloth to prevent stains.
- Use mild soap and water, avoid harsh chemicals.
- Reapply wood oil or wax periodically to keep the finish looking fresh.
- Protect surfaces from heat and moisture with coasters and placemats.
What’s the best way to maintain wood furniture?
- First of all, you need to know what your furniture is finished with. Most Another Country furniture is finished with an application of natural oil followed by wax. We also use Osmo on some of our products.
- For waxed finishes, reapply a soft wax every few months for protection.
- For oiled finishes (not a typical Another Country finish), use a natural wood oil (look for solvent-free oils like or own Naturhaus).
- For Osmo finishes, use Osmo.
- Avoid silicone-based polishes as they can build up and dull the finish over time.
- Read our Care Instructions
How do I fix cracks in a wood dining table?
- Small cracks – Fill with wood filler or wax sticks, then sand and refinish.
- Larger cracks – Use wood glue and clamps for stability, then refinish as needed.
- Expansion gaps – Seasonal changes can cause natural wood movement, so minor cracks may close on their own.
How many chairs can fit around my dining table?
- A general rule is 60cm (24″) per person for comfortable seating.
- For rectangular tables:
- 120cm (4ft) – Seats 4
- 180cm (6ft) – Seats 6
- 240cm (8ft) – Seats 8
- For round tables:
- 90cm (3ft) – Seats 4
- 120cm (4ft) – Seats 6
- 150cm (5ft) – Seats 8
Should I mix and match dining chairs?
We are fans of pairing dining chairs with a matching dining table because they are designed to work together, but mixing chairs is a popular one option and one that allows you to buy a range of different designs.
Wood Furniture
What kind of wood does Another Country use?
We use sustainably sourced timber for all our products. All our wood is certified- or PEFC-certified, meaning it comes from responsibly managed forests. Our solid wood is entirely sourced from European and North American forests and suppliers.
Does Another Country make veneer or composite wood products?
No, we believe furniture should be made for life and believe that making furniture from solid wood is the best and most sustainable way, though we make certain components with high quality veneered panels (see more below). Generally, veneered and engineered materials, whilst cheaper, tend to wear out quickly, can’t be easily repaired, and often end up in landfill. We design pieces that can be passed down, not thrown away. Sustainability for us means designing for longevity as much as it means using low-impact materials.
What’s the difference between solid wood and veneer?
Solid wood furniture and / or solid wood components are made from 100% solid wood and can be sanded, refinished and repaired many times over, meaning it develops character with age rather than deteriorates. Veneered components have the attribute of being stable and lightweight and are often used for cabinetry components (along with solid wood components). In our case, it would consist of a layer of wood glued to a substrate like birch plywood.
What does “real” or “solid wood” mean?
“Real wood” refers to timber cut straight from the tree, no fillers, glues or industrial layers. It has natural grain, character, and strength. We celebrate these variations in our pieces. No two are exactly alike, and that’s part of their beauty.
Which woods are best for furniture?
Hardwoods such as oak, ash, and walnut are some of the most durable and beautiful materials available. These are the primary species we use, chosen for their strength, longevity, and timeless character. When cared for properly, they can last for generations.
How do I care for solid wood furniture?
- Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth.
- For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth and mild soap, avoid harsh chemicals.
- Protect surfaces from water, heat and scratching by using mats or trivets.
- Reapply plant-based oil or wax every so often to nourish the wood and keep its finish looking fresh.
Our care instructions are always included with your order.
How do I fix small cracks in solid wood furniture?
Wood is a natural material and responds to humidity and temperature. Small cracks can appear as it expands and contracts with the seasons, this is normal and part of its charm. For hairline cracks:
- Use a matching wood filler or natural wax crayon for cosmetic touch-ups.
- For deeper splits, we offer a repair service to restore your piece properly.
